Wo kann man im Herbst ohne weiten Flug noch ein bisschen angenehmes Meer und sonnige Tage geniessen? Da fiel meine Wahl auf Kreta, einer der s\u00fcdlichsten Inseln Griechenlands. Ich buchte das Hotel Domes of elounda<\/a>\u00a0,ein Angebot von Secret escape,<\/a> dem Anbieter f\u00fcr ein umfangreiches Hotel, und Pauschalreisenangebot, mit dem ich schon gute Erfahrungen gemacht habe. Das Hotel liegt in der Bucht von Elounda, einem kleinen Ferienort im Nordosten Kretas. Besonders beworben wird es mit einem spektakul\u00e4ren Blick auf einer der Hauptsehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten der Insel, dem Fort Spinalonga. Das Hotel, welches zur autograph collection von Marriott geh\u00f6rt, zieht sich \u00fcber zwei H\u00fcgel und bietet viele unterschiedliche Zimmerkategorien, unter anderem auch die auf dem zweiten H\u00fcgel neu erbauten core residenzen, ebenfalls wie auch die Suiten mit wahlweise ein oder zwei Schlafzimmern, einem eigenen Pool oder Jacuzzi. Durch die Erweiterungen ist die Hotelanlage sehr gross, was uns aber nicht gest\u00f6rt hat, da unser Zimmer im unteren Teil, aber ganz am Rand des Hotelkomplexes lag. Daher sollte man sehr sorgf\u00e4ltig die Zimmerkategorie ausw\u00e4hlen, da es sonst eventuell zu weiten Wegen kommen kann. Alte Kulturen, pittoreske Hafenst\u00e4dtchen, malerische Badebuchten und karge Berglandschaft- das verbindet man mit Kreta. Doch die Insel ist gross und da unser Hotel im Osten lag, konzentrierten wir uns auf diesen Teil. Zum Gl\u00fcck hatten wir einen Mietwagen, mit dem wir unproblematisch \u00fcberall hinkamen, aber auch mit \u00f6ffentlichen Bussen kommt man zu den meisten Orten und Taxis sind preisg\u00fcnstig.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Das erfuhren wir ganz genau! Ich hatte \u00fcber GetyourGuide einen deutsch sprechenden Fremdenf\u00fchrer gebucht, der uns die minoische Kultur im Palast von Knossos ausf\u00fchrlich erl\u00e4uterte. Diese grosse Ausgrabungsst\u00e4tte in der N\u00e4he von Heraklion ist die gr\u00f6sste, aber nur eine von mehreren Pal\u00e4sten der Hochkultur, die vor 4000 Jahren friedlich existierte. Neben den Pal\u00e4sten fanden die Arch\u00e4ologen auch eine Stadt aus der minoischen Kultur. Auf einem grossen Gel\u00e4nde erkennt man noch Strassen, H\u00e4user und Pl\u00e4tze. Wie hoch diese Kultur entwickelt war zu einer Zeit, als bei uns noch die Steinzeit herrschte, wird einem erst so richtig bewusst beim Besuch des arch\u00e4ologischen Museums in Heraklion. Nun aber genug Kultur-bei angenehmen 25 Grad und Sonnenschein bot sich an, die Natur, die K\u00fcste und die sch\u00f6nen Hafenst\u00e4dtchen zu erkunden. Mit Hilfe der App „kommot“ machten wir drei nicht zu anspruchsvolle Wanderungen. Die erste f\u00fchrte uns zu einem verlassenen Leuchtturm \u00a0n\u00f6rdlich von Elounda.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

An einer kleinen Kapelle begann der breite geschotterte Weg erst 250 H\u00f6henmeter hinunter bis zum Leuchtturm, danach die gleiche Strecke zur\u00fcck. Dauer etwa 2 Stunden. Viele spektakul\u00e4re Schluchten bietet Kreta, doch die ber\u00fchmte Samiria lag f\u00fcr uns zu weit im Westen, so entschieden wir uns, eine Wanderung in die Schlucht von Richti<\/strong> zu machen, die in der N\u00e4he der Stadt Sitia liegt.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Die Anfahrt zum Parkplatz begann harmlos, wurde aber nervenaufreibend, da die Strasse immer schmaler wurde und es doch ohne Sicherung sehr tief und steil an der Seite bergab ging. Doch der Fahrer behielt die Nerven und die Beifahrerin schaute einfach nicht hin. Gott sei Dank kam uns auch kein anderes Auto entgegen. Belohnt wurden wir mit sch\u00f6ner Natur und einem pittoresken Wasserfall.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Die dritte Wanderung f\u00fchrte uns auf die Insel, die wir jeden Tag von unserer Hotelterrasse sehen konnten-Spinalonga<\/strong>.Nicht zu verwechseln mit einer der Hauptsehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten, dem Fort Spinalonga<\/strong>, das wir nat\u00fcrlich auch noch besuchten. Ziel war eine kleine Kapelle und auf dem R\u00fcckweg eine einsame Badebucht. Mit wundersch\u00f6nen Ausblicken aufs Meer f\u00fchrte der Weg auf und ab und wir freuten uns auf die Badepause. Nur als wir den kleinen Strand in Sichtweite hatten, machte doch tats\u00e4chlich ein Ausflugsboot dort fest und etwa 50 Touristen st\u00fcrmten das Ufer, um dort zu baden und zu grillen. Das wars dann mit unserer einsamen Badebucht. Auch solche einsamen Ecken werden von den Partybooten heimgesucht und es wurde uns mal wieder bewusst, dass Kreta doch eine sehr touristische Insel ist- auch noch im Oktober! Dieses alte Fort aus der venezianischen Zeit, welches Anfang des 20. Jahrhundert lange Zeit als Leprastation benutzt wurde, kann man auf vielen Wegen erreichen. Von Elounda und Plaka fahren kleine F\u00e4hren hin\u00fcber oder man nimmt von Agios Nikolaios ein Ausflugsschiff. Wir hatten den Luxus, dass unser Hotel ein kleines speedboot hatte, mit dem man sich zu jeder Zeit zur Insel r\u00fcberfahren lassen konnte. So konnten wir ganz nach Lust und Zeit diese wirklich sehenswerte Attraktion besichtigen. Es ist zu empfehlen, entweder morgens fr\u00fch oder am sp\u00e4teren Nachmittag das Fort anzuschauen, da es doch von vielen Schiffen heimgesucht wird.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Mit griechischen kleinen Fischerorte verbindet man sofort die bunten Boote und die Tavernen mit den blauen und weissen Tischen und St\u00fchlen. Und so etwas findet man nat\u00fcrlich auch auf Kreta. Wir sind somit gerne auf unseren Touren in die auf dem Weg liegenden Orte reingefahren, haben irgendwo in der N\u00e4he des Hafens geparkt und uns mit Hilfe von guten Bewertungen auf Tripadvisor einen netten Platz in einer Taverne am Wasser gesucht. Das klappte \u00a0immer gut und die meisten Restaurants hatten \u00a0von Mittag bis zum Abend durchgehend ge\u00f6ffnet und wir bekamen auch noch um 15 Uhr problemlos ein warmes Mittagessen.
